Dr. Farhana Shahid is a social and developmental sector expert with more than 25 years of professional experience in both public and private sectors in Pakistan. She is a Medical Doctor from Dow Medical College, Karachi; Master’s in Public Health from Health Services Academy, Islamabad, and has completed a Doctorate (PhD) degree from the University of New South Wales, Australia. Her areas of interest are Nutrition, Human rights, gender, and reproductive health.
She has played strategic planning and implementation roles in senior leadership and managerial positions in various donor-funded projects including USAID on women and child health in Pakistan. As Senior Technical Advisor/lead role, she has successfully managed large teams; and was extensively involved in recruitment, training, and performance monitoring of the team to deliver results. She has vast experience as a technical advisor in developing technical material for training in several capacity-building and awareness-raising programs nationally on gender, reproductive health, and nutrition with international organizations such as Jhpiego, PSI, and Save the Children. She has carried out several consultancy work as an independent/lead consultant and has conducted a number of evaluation studies for international organizations such as UNICEF, UNFPA, WHO, PSI, and Population Council. Currently, she has been working as an Associate Professor at Ziauddin University's College of Public Health, Karachi, Pakistan. Additionally, since October 2020, she has been a consultant for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) on Nutrition in Pakistan.
