The Journal of Women and Child Health (JoWACH) is dedicated to advancing research in the field of women and child health through its inclusive and open-access publishing model. To ensure the sustainability and quality of the journal, JoWACH offers two submission pathways: Normal Submission and Fast-Track Publishing, each tailored to meet diverse author needs.

NOTE: Timeliness is crucial. Our commitment to fast and efficient publication depends on adherence to guidelines, transparent communication, and prompt responses from authors. We strongly encourage authors to follow the provided guidelines closely and to regularly check the submission portal, as the submission portal will serve as the primary communication channel throughout the publication process (no email communication will be entertained, except reminders from the Journal to the authors in rare cases).

 

Waiver Policy

Out of every issue published, JoWACH will offer 3 submissions a waiver of 50% to 100% on publication and submission charges. Waivers will be granted based on the following quality criteria:

  1. Reviewer Feedback:
    • Manuscripts that receive outstanding comments from all reviewers.
    • High originality and significant contributions to the field.
  2. Overall Quality Index:
    • Papers scoring in the top 4% with more than 90% based on Novelty of Research Question, Contribution to the Field, Addressing Research Gaps, Appropriateness of Research Design, Literature Review, Ethical Considerations, Impact and Significance, innovation, clarity, and methodological rigor, strong potential to influence policy or practice in women and child health.

How these waivers will be selected: All such points on the quality criteria will be collected from the reviewers during their review process. feedback on every submission.

Authors of selected papers will be notified about their waivers upon acceptance.

Publication Charges by Article Type

JoWACH charges publication fees based on the type of manuscript. Effective January 1, 2025, the following fees apply:

Explanation of Payment Options

To ensure fairness and flexibility for authors, JoWaCH offers a structured payment system based on manuscript type, publication speed, and author circumstances. Here's a breakdown of the payment options:

  1. Currency-Based Payments:

    • PKR Payments: Applicable for authors based in Pakistan and for studies conducted entirely within Pakistan.
    • USD Payments: Required for studies with at least one international author, research conducted outside Pakistan, or studies funded by international organizations. This ensures alignment with global standards and simplifies payment processing for overseas authors.
  2. Fee Breakdown:

    • Submission Fee:
      • Represents 20% of the total fee and is payable at the time of submission.
      • Covers initial administrative costs, manuscript review, and quality checks.
    • Post-Publication Fee:
      • Accounts for 80% of the total fee and is payable upon acceptance of the manuscript.
      • Covers final publication costs, including editing, formatting, indexing, and online hosting.
  3. Normal Paced vs. Fast-Track Publishing:

    • Normal Paced Fees:
      • Designed for authors with no urgent publication requirements.
      • Offers a cost-effective option for high-quality publication with standard timelines.
    • Fast-Track Fees:
      • Provides expedited processing and publication for time-sensitive research.
      • Suitable for authors who require rapid dissemination of their findings, such as during public health emergencies or academic deadlines.
  4. Eligibility for Currency Selection:

    • Local Studies: Research conducted entirely in Pakistan with all authors based in Pakistan should pay in PKR.
    • International Studies: If at least one author is based overseas, the study involves international collaboration, or is conducted outside Pakistan, payment in USD is required.
  5. Rationale for Fee Structure:

    • The tiered fee structure balances affordability for local researchers with the operational costs of maintaining international publishing standards.
    • Offering both PKR and USD payment options ensures inclusivity for authors worldwide while reflecting the scope and impact of their research.

  • For Overseas Authors: Payments are accepted through international bank transfers.
