Authors Contributions

Specify the contributions of each author to the research project, using the CRediT taxonomy guidelines (e.g., conceptualization, data curation, formal analysis, writing).

The CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy) is a standardized system for assigning roles to individuals who contribute to scholarly outputs, such as research articles, datasets, and software. It aims to clearly and fairly acknowledge the diverse contributions of all individuals involved in a research project. Here's a breakdown of CRediT:

Structure:

CRediT uses 14 predefined roles to categorize different types of contributions. These roles fall into three broad categories:

    • Conceptualization: Individuals who develop the idea or design of the research.
    • Methodology: Individuals who contribute to the development or execution of the research methods.
    • Writing & Dissemination: Individuals who contribute to the writing, editing, or dissemination of the research findings.
    • Each role has a clear definition and description to ensure consistent interpretation.

Benefits:

    • CRediT offers several benefits:
    • Transparency: Promotes transparency and fairness in acknowledging everyone's contributions.
    • Accuracy: Encourages accurate and complete attribution of credit.
    • Clarity: Provides a common language for describing contributions, reducing ambiguity.
    • Reproducibility: Improves the clarity and reproducibility of research by acknowledging and documenting specific contributions.

Adoption:

    • CRediT is increasingly adopted by journals, research institutions, and funding agencies as a standard for contributor recognition. Several major publishers, including Elsevier, Springer Nature, and Wiley, already mandate or encourage the use of CRediT in their journals.
    • For more information and detailed descriptions of each role, you can visit the official CRediT website: https://www.niso.org/standards-committees/credit
    • Remember:
    • Using CRediT can enhance the transparency and accuracy of your research publications and ensure proper recognition for all your collaborators.
    •
    • For the ease of authors, JoWaCH has categorized CRediT credentials under following sub-sections:
  • Conceptualization: Name of authors involved.
  • Data Curation: Name of authors involved.
  • Formal Analysis: Name of authors involved.
  • Funding Acquisition: Name of authors involved.
  • Investigation: Name of authors involved.
  • Methodology: Name of authors involved.
  • Project Administration: Name of authors involved.
  • Resources: Name of authors involved.
  • Software: Name of authors involved.
  • Supervision: Name of authors involved.
  • Validation: Name of authors involved.
  • Visualization: Name of authors involved.
  • Writing – Original Draft Preparation: Name of authors involved.
  • Writing – Review & Editing: Name of authors involved.
